Meanwhile...

Hopefully a new page has been added to the menu on the left, “Meanwhile...” What’s this all about then?

We’re conscious that one or two of you have time outside of Explorers to do other stuff - be that in a band, drama group, rugby club or whatever. So we’ve added a page for you to invite people along to watch or whatever - it’s up to you.

Do read the caveats about what we can and can’t add, and that we don’t take responsibility for any of the activities advertised - ‘cause we’re not organising them!

Programme for TWO Weeks!

We’re all at HQ tonight at normal time WITH UNIFORM (please - it will also avoid the feedback that some of you received a couple of weeks ago...). The programme’s going to be the “Krypton Factor” - you need bring nothing except a newspaper... (local rag’s fine). All will be revealed...

And next week (such organisation!), we’re having a Wide Game, ‘cause the last one went so well. Only this time we’re meeting at the Red Lion Pub. in Earlswood at 7:30pm, arriving back there for 10pm. Uniform’s not required, but stuff for running around woods in will be. And a torch, too!

Coming second in the The Boot Trophy (and only 8 minutes behind the winners!).

A massive congratulations to all who took part - everyone who attempted the walk this year completed it, which is a first, and we had a team complete in daylight, which threw some of our organisation into disarray somewhat (apologies to all who helped on the Checkpoint for the lack of fuel for the generator for an hour or so after it got dark - oops).

Congratulations also go to those members of Intrepid who took part in the junior Chase Walk (the winning team there had three members of Intrepid in!), those Scouts from Buckholt (who formed the rest of the winning team amongst others) and from Glyn who took part in the Junior Chase Walk (and who all completed it).

Also mentioned in dispatches need to be the teams who completed the Chase Walk from Drake ESU (one of whom came second in The Rock Trophy), from Mallory ESU, from Simpson ESU, and the Leaders Teams from Buckholt and 6th Shirley.

All told - a top weekend. Thanks guys.

Chase Walk

There have been a couple of ‘phone calls tonight about missing booklets, so we’ve uploaded all the information (including a kit list and Activity Form) to the Documents section. There’s a copy of the Chase Walk handbook itself on their website at http://www.chasewalk.fsnet.co.uk/Chase%20Walk%202009%20Handbook.pdf.

See you tomorrow!

(PS - it’s going to be cold at night - make sure you’ve got a decent sleeping bag or bring two...)

There’s a Duke of Edinburgh Award Drop-in at HQ tonight, starting at 7pm. It’s highly advised to turn-up if you’re currently underway with the Award, or if you’re interested in starting it.

For information - we manage to sign three people off for the Award on Monday, so we’re now making real progress!

Tonight's Programme

We’re at HQ tonight, at normal time for the main bit of the Programme (but see the note above for details of tonight’s DofE drop-in). You’ll need uniform, and we’re running a Trading Post.

We’re also planning to go to the Circus next Thursday instead of Ice Skating - let us have a Comment as to whether you think that this is a good idea or not, or if we should offer both?

You’ll need uniform. And
PLEASE bring back compasses and stuff, ‘cause the Chase Walk people really will need them....

If you have any of our equipment at home, please (PLEASE!) remember to bring it up tonight.

Compasses, maps, map cases, reflective jackets, platypuses, head torches, bivvy bags - they’re all missing at the moment - and we’re going to need them for the Chase Walk - which is only a couple of weeks away.

(We’ll be giving out the Chase Walk info. tonight).
