Tonight's Programme
30/09/10 00:37
'Cause quite a few of
the Six Dales posse are still feeling the effects of
the walk (and just about everyone's got Edd's cold!),
we've deferred the climbing to next week, so we're at
HQ normal time mit
Pfadfinderuniform...
Thursday's Programme
22/09/10 20:30
The plan for tomorrow
is as follows.
Six Dales People
The Blister Crew are at HQ at normal time (8:15 - 10:15) with their Six Dales stuff. We'll be sorting out route cards, team equipment, and a whole bunch of other stuff, so you need to be there!
Sensible Non-Blister People
Those that have (sensibly) decided that they don't want to spend the next week looking somewhat crippled are at Earlswood for a Wide Game. We're meeting there at 7:30, and you'll need to be collected at 9:30. The car park's location should be shown in the nice Googly map below!

WE'RE BACK - meeting
tomorrow, where we have to elect the new Chairman*.
If you want to go for the job, make sure that you
have your pitch ready - as it's an elected role, and
it's the Explorers, not the Leaders, who are the
voters!
Normal time, at the Scout HQ, with uniform.

- depends how good a shot you are!)
Either way, you're welcome to join us at LaserQuest Acock's Green tonight. We're meeting there at 7:30pm, you'll need £6, and it will all finish for 9pm!

Blackpooool!
31/05/10 18:00
We're off to Blackpool
on Thursday, land of sofistikation, land of cult-ure,
and big rollacoasters... So - what are the details?
We're meeting at HQ at 8am (!) and travelling up to Blackpool in the minibus. Once we're at Blackpool - you can do what you want... We suggest that you may want to check out the Pleasure Beach - a pre-booked unlimited ticket is £25. Or you may wish to take some stuff for the beach - it looks like Thursday's going to be a cracking day weather-wise! It's up to you...
What you will need, though, is some food or cash for food. And you will need to book your place online - it's first-come, first-served. And the cost for the minibus? £Zip. Yup - nada, nothing, nil. We rock like that...

No Revision Here Thanks
20/05/10 09:00
If you're a Year 9
reading this, you may well be asking the question
"what revision?" - however we suspect that those in
Years 10 - 13 won't be quite so sanguine about it...
So - come and join us tonight for a Revision Free Night. We're going to take baseball bats out into the park (no - not for any kind of revenge - we're going to play Softball), we're going to have some silly competitions in the HQ. And there's going to be real prizes of chocolate, to help with the revision...

06/05/10 09:00
Okay, so most of you
can't vote today. But if you could you'd vote for the
Tories, 'cause that Mr Cameron, he, er, er - what?
No - we're not going to sit around discussing the Parties' position on Waziristan. It is going to involve post-it notes, moving around, and the discovery as to whether you are a fascist, a communist, or maybe a Lib Dem...
Oh - and as it's a normal meeting, you'll need to bring uniform up with you. Some of you haven't got uniform, 'cause you've only just joined - months ago *cough* Cam... If you haven't got a uniform, you've got until next week to get one - they're available at Early Years in Shirley or here. We recommend that you buy the Polo Shirt for Summer!

We're back! Everyone's
at HQ tomorrow night 8:15pm - 10:15pm. We'll be
revealing just what we have in the way of camps
coming up (clue - it's A LOT!).

Alton Towers Update
11/04/10 20:30
The list of those going
to Alton Towers on Thursday now looks like this:
Which, unfortunately, is pretty much a minibus full... If your name's on the list and you're NOT going - please let Andy know ASAP. If your name's not on the list and you want to be put on the reserve - let Andy know...
We're meeting at the Scout HQ at 9:30am on Thursday. You'll need to sort your own ticket (there are so many Alton Towers offers around at the moment that the Group Rate is actually pretty pants in comparison!). Buying a magazine in WHSmith sorted Andy's 2 for 1 voucher (it was the Economist if anyone's wondering...).
We'll be back "in the evening". Yup - all very noncommittal - it's all dependent upon when people get bored, how rubbish the traffic is, etc. It definitely won't be before 6pm though, and it won't be after 9pm.
Any questions? To Andy...

Get Your* Skates On
08/04/10 07:00
We're at the ice rink
tonight - meeting there at 7pm, finishing there at
9:30pm. The cost will be £5.40 if we get 15 people -
otherwise it's £8.40...
(*But this does include skate hire, so you don't actually need your own skates!)

Alton Towers
08/04/10 07:00
We're off to Alton
Towers next Thursday (15 April) - an opportunity to
try their new ride and all of the old ones, too!
We're not sorting the tickets (that's down to you!), but we will provide transport in the Explorer minibus for free - which has to be a good deal.
Those that want to go need to book a place in the minibus ASAP - it's going to be first-come-first-served we're afraid - and we have a Unit of 50 Explorers and only 17 seats...
(Anyone want to buy us another minibus?!).

Thursday's Skiing & Snowboarding
09/02/10 23:17
We're back on track
with the Programme (hurrah!), so we're skiing and
snowboarding on Thursday!
We're meeting at the Ackers at 7pm, and you'll need stuff to go on a ski slope with (clue — it's outside and high at the top. It's February — it's not going to be warm...). You need gloves — if you don't understand why, ask Scott...
The fun and games will finish at 10pm. The cost is £6.50 (and please some of you bring change!)

And responds
accordingly. Having finally been brave enough to hand
out a Programme, having managed to keep to an entire
term's worth last year, we've had to change things
around all ready...
Consequently, we're not at the Ackers tomorrow. Instead we're at HQ - with The Very Early ShroveTuesday ThursdayTM.

2010!
06/01/10 20:00
And we're back! Well,
we are tomorrow, anyhow.
After giving the matter careful consideration (of about 1 second), we've decided that we're NOT going to the park for a snowball fight - those that were there last year will understand why...
However - what we are going to do is sort Bodies Revealed, set the dates for skiing and snowboarding at the Ackers, start thinking about the Chase Walk, reveal the latest about Monopoly Run Paris, have a chat about our Summer Camp thoughts.
Oh - and we'll also possibly fit a couple of games in. And we promise that they won't include Sumo! We've got our New Year's resolutions after all...

Retrofilm Night
20/07/09 23:00
As discussed last week,
we will meet this Thursday: 19:30 - 22:30. We'll aim
to open up a little earlier at 19:00 for those that
want to get some fish 'n' chips first and eat them.
But what to watch?
A few ideas - rate them with a comment - and let us know if there's anything else you want to see - but it's got to be at least 10 years old!
The Terminator (1984). The original film - man v. machine. An awful lot of bullets used... He'll be back...
Wayne's World (1992). Party on Dude!
Speed (1994). Don't go below 50mph...
The Usual Suspects (1995). Who is Keyser Söze?
Momento (1999). Remember this?

Thursday's BBQ
15/07/09 09:00
A reminder that
Thursday's programme is the end of term BBQ, at which
We Shall Stand in the Rain and Burn Food (the weather
forecast for Thursday's seriously pants!).
Notwithstanding that - we have a nice Scout HQ with a
roof and very shiny new windows, so do come and join
us.
Parents and siblings are welcome, and can bring a drink if they want (that's more aimed at your parents that your 8 year-old sister just for the avoidance of doubt!).
We shall also have the printed Activity Forms for Summer Camps Guernsey and Gower, and the final details for Summer Camp Gower, too. Understanding who's going would be a Good Thing for this... In terms of Summer Camp Guernsey, where we do actually know who's going WEEKS in advance (I feel like Harvey must feel over at Mallory!) - we've started to book activities. Details in the Summer Camp blog, obviously...
And because it's the last night of the term, there is no uniform required. And have a think about next Thursday - do you guys want to do something or shall we stop meeting for the Summer? And if so - what? Could go to the cinema? Let us know!

Programme for TWO Weeks!
26/03/09 06:30
We’re all at HQ tonight
at normal time WITH UNIFORM (please - it will also
avoid the feedback that some of you received a couple
of weeks ago...). The programme’s going to be the
“Krypton Factor” - you need bring nothing except a
newspaper... (local rag’s fine). All will be
revealed...
And next week (such organisation!), we’re having a Wide Game, ‘cause the last one went so well. Only this time we’re meeting at the Red Lion Pub. in Earlswood at 7:30pm, arriving back there for 10pm. Uniform’s not required, but stuff for running around woods in will be. And a torch, too!

Everyone should be well
aware after the emails and the text messages, but
we’re off to the circus tonight. Zippos.co.uk has the

We’re meeting there at 7:15pm, outside the box office. Carnations in buttonholes optional!

12/03/09 06:00
We’re at HQ tonight, at
normal time for the main bit of the Programme (but
see the note above for details of tonight’s DofE
drop-in). You’ll need uniform, and we’re running a
Trading Post.
We’re also planning to go to the Circus next Thursday instead of Ice Skating - let us have a Comment as to whether you think that this is a good idea or not, or if we should offer both?
You’ll need uniform. And PLEASE bring back compasses and stuff, ‘cause the Chase Walk people really will need them....

Closing the Stable Door After the Horse has Long Bolted
26/02/09 09:00
If you’ve ever wanted
to see the meaning of the phrase Shutting the Stable
Door after the Horse has Bolted incarnate - tonight’s
your chance; yup, we’re running the first tranche of
the Self Defence course that we thought might be
useful for people for some reason...
As well as this, we’ll also be giving a (short!) Presentation of the Duke of Edinburgh Award work we’ve been doing behind the scenes with the Scout Association, signing up new people and signing off some of the existing participants, and there will be an opportunity to take part in ShroveTuesday Thursday pancakes.
They’ll also be details of the Years 9 & 10 Monopoly Run in London, more details for the Chase Walk, information about the Summer Camp on Guernsey, and breaking news about a possible climbing course for Year 13s in March. We’re also going to order the next lot of Explorer Drill Tops, so let us know tonight if you don’t have one.
It really is the place where it’s all happening tonight! Normal time - WITH UNIFORM...
(Oh - and apologies. There was a bit of a technical hitch with the Twitter feed, so the details didn’t get updated whilst we were away. Needless to say it was a fab. week and the snow conditions were great! And everyone returned intact...).

Thursday's Programme...
06/02/09 01:51
... Obviously didn’t go
according to plan. Apologies to everyone, and we’re
going to take time out to review what happened, and
what lessons we need to learn from it. I’ll be
writing out to everyone’s parents with an update over
the weekend, and there will be a parents’ meeting
next Thursday for anyone who wants to come up and
discuss.
What is apparent, though, is that just about all the lads who were attacked were attacked because they’d gone to the help of younger Explorers. That is awesome, and is something that you all should be extremely proud of. It reflects rather better on you than on the gits in the Park that did this.
If you do remember something, do give me a call and I’ll pass the information on to the Police.
Thanks,
Andy

Tonight's Programme...
05/02/09 17:15
... is on!
Normal time at HQ. For those that fancy going outside there will be an opportunity - however, we won’t force people as its possible that you’re all snowed out... We’ll also be doing some stuff indoors as well, as we don’t want you all to freeze!
(PS - ‘cause we’re nice, there’s no uniform required tonight - we recommend something warm might be useful!)
(PPS - skiing people - we forgot to mention that we’ll be traveling up in Drill Tops. But now you know...)
<= (PPPS - we’ve updated the Twitter feed that’s located somewhat to the left of here! This is now Intrepid’s own feed, rather than Andy’s - and is worth checking out, particularly when we’re away on camp, as it can be updated by text message, which is a bit easier to do from a field than updating the main website.)

Thursday's Programme
04/02/09 17:00
A quick heads up. At
the time of writing this (Wednesday) it’s looking as
if tomorrow may be somewhat chaotic again with snow.
We’re not yet sure how difficult travel’s going to be
tomorrow evening, so we’ll update the website 6pm
tomorrow with a final yay or nay as to whether
Explorers is going ahead.
If it does go ahead, we’ll be at the HQ.
If it does go ahead, we’ll be at the HQ.

See you at Stechford Cascades at 7pm with £3 and swimming stuff.
